Antonella Autuori

Researcher

Antonella is a design researcher at the Institute of Design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). Her work explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and design, with a strong focus on developing innovative methodologies that integrate AI into design education. She is also a PhD candidate in Design at RMIT University in Melbourne. Her research investigates self-reflective practices aimed at fostering bias-resilient and bias-resistant approaches to artificial intelligence technologies. Her work reimagines AI as both a lens for critically examining societal structures and a research tool for interrogating the assumptions that shape technological development. By integrating design methodologies, she critically engages with data-driven systems and explores how values and biases are embedded in technological frameworks.

Antonella is the co-founder of the Data Driven Design module at the Master of Arts in Interaction Design at SUPSI and the coordinator and teacher of the Data Visualization course at IED in Turin, which she founded in 2021. Her teaching emphasizes the creative and critical integration of data, design, and technology to address complex social and environmental challenges.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and a Master’s degree in Communication Design from the Politecnico di Milano, where she developed a thesis project Video Summarisation Toolkit with the Density Design research lab, the King’s College and the University of Amsterdam’s New Media aimed at developing new digital methods for the analysis and synthesis of video data collections to facilitate the study of these materials in the context of social web research.
